Terms & Conditions – CK Autos Carey & Kyprianou Ltd

1. About Us

CK Autos Carey & Kyprianou Ltd (“CK Autos”, “we”, “us”, “our”) provides vehicle diagnostics, mechanical repairs, emissions system services (including DPF, EGR and AdBlue solutions), ECU/TCU remapping, and mobile call-out services across Hertfordshire, London, Essex and surrounding areas.

By booking or using our services, you agree to be bound by these Terms & Conditions.

2. Scope of Services

We provide, among other things:

  • Vehicle diagnostics and fault finding
  • Mechanical repairs and maintenance
  • DPF, EGR and AdBlue cleaning, repairs and replacement
  • ECU remapping and TCU/gearbox tuning
  • Mobile services where available

All work is carried out based on the information provided by the customer and the condition of the vehicle at the time of inspection.

3. Bookings, Deposits & Payments

Bookings may require a non-refundable deposit to secure workshop time, mobile slots or special-order parts. Deposits are strictly non-refundable, except where we cancel the booking and cannot offer a suitable alternative date.

Remaining balances are due immediately upon completion of the work, before the vehicle is released. We reserve the right to refuse or cancel a booking if the vehicle is unsafe, excessively modified without disclosure, or presents a risk to staff, equipment or other vehicles.

4. Cancellations & No-Shows

Bookings can be cancelled or rescheduled at least 24 hours before the scheduled appointment time without additional labour charges (deposits remain non-refundable). Cancellations made within 24 hours of the booking time, or failure to attend, may result in loss of deposit and additional call-out or time charges if a mobile technician has already been dispatched.

If we arrive on site and the vehicle/location is unsuitable to work on, the visit may be treated as a late cancellation and no refund will be issued.

5. Diagnostics & Assessment

Diagnostic fees cover technician time, fault code reading, wiring checks, data logging and basic testing. They do not guarantee a final fix. Some faults can only be confirmed after follow-up repairs or further testing.

If the customer declines recommended additional work, CK Autos is not responsible for unresolved or recurring issues. Misdiagnosis caused by undeclared previous tuning, tampering, poor wiring or hidden faults may incur additional charges.

6. ECU Remapping & TCU/Gearbox Tuning

By requesting ECU remapping or TCU tuning, the customer understands that increased power and torque place additional load on the engine, turbocharger, clutch, gearbox, fuel system and other components. Failures of worn, weak or poorly maintained parts following a remap are not the responsibility of CK Autos.

Remapping may affect manufacturer warranties, insurance policies and emissions levels; it is the customer’s responsibility to declare modifications where required. Original software can often be restored, but labour/time charges will apply.

7. Emissions Systems: DPF, EGR & AdBlue

We offer legal emissions services including on-car DPF cleaning, off-car DPF deep cleaning, DPF replacement, EGR valve cleaning/replacement, AdBlue/SCR system diagnostics and repairs, and DPF pressure sensor replacement. These services are intended to restore correct emissions operation and help vehicles remain MOT compliant where possible.

8. MOT-Related Work

We can diagnose and repair issues that commonly cause MOT failures (warning lights, emissions faults, smoke, DPF problems). However, we do not guarantee that a vehicle will pass its MOT, as final decisions rest with the MOT testing station. The customer remains responsible for ensuring their vehicle is road-legal and maintained after our work is completed.

9. Parts: New, Used & Customer-Supplied

New parts may include supplier or manufacturer warranty, subject to their terms. Used parts are supplied only at customer request and usually carry no warranty unless explicitly stated. We do not warrant parts provided by the customer and may decline installation if quality or safety is in doubt.

10. Mobile Services

For mobile work, the customer must ensure safe, legal and reasonably level parking or working area, adequate space to work around the vehicle and permission to work at the location. If we attend and cannot work safely, the visit may be treated as a late cancellation and call-out charges may still apply.

11. 30-Day Warranty on Repairs & Remapping

We provide a 30-day warranty on vehicle repairs and remapping where a proven issue is directly related to our workmanship or software.

This does not cover pre-existing mechanical problems, failures due to age, mileage, abuse or lack of maintenance, failures of related components (turbo, clutch, gearbox, injectors), overheating, low oil, fuel contamination or any work altered or tampered with by third parties. Emissions deletion work is off-road only and carries no warranty.

12. Liability Limitations

CK Autos will exercise reasonable skill and care, but we are not liable for loss of earnings, loss of use of the vehicle, hire car costs, consequential or indirect losses, damage arising from underlying faults or unsafe modifications, or issues that occur after the vehicle leaves our premises where the cause is unrelated to our services.

Our maximum liability, where applicable, shall not exceed the value of the original invoice for the service in question.

13. Refund Policy

Deposits are strictly non-refundable. No refunds are issued for remapping, diagnostics or other digital/software services once they have been carried out or applied to the vehicle. No refunds are issued if the customer cancels within 24 hours of the booking time or fails to attend the appointment.

Where we are unable to complete work due to our own fault (e.g. equipment failure), we may offer to reschedule or provide a partial refund at our discretion.

14. Personal Belongings & Vehicle Storage

Customers should remove valuables from vehicles before leaving them with us. We are not responsible for loss or damage to personal belongings left inside the car. If a vehicle is not collected within a reasonable time after completion and after attempts to contact the customer, storage fees may apply.

15. Data, ECU Files & Privacy

We may store diagnostic logs, ECU file backups and customer contact details for safety, record-keeping and warranty purposes. Data is used only for legitimate business purposes and is not sold to third parties. We may share information with law enforcement or authorities if required by law.

16. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms & Conditions from time to time. The version published on our website at the time of booking will apply to that booking.

17. Customer Acceptance

By booking an appointment, paying a deposit or allowing us to work on your vehicle, you confirm that you have read and understood these Terms & Conditions, are the owner of the vehicle or have the owner’s permission, accept responsibility for any modifications carried out at your request and understand the legal restrictions around emissions deletions and performance tuning.
